His First Violin Grading
It has been six months of prep with lots of practising. And a whole of blood, sweat and tears.
Thankfully, he's been quite a trooper with all the additional classes when it was closer to the exam.
I never thought I would say this but he was actually pretty independent with his practice sessions lately. Popping his own exam CD in the audio system and playing along with it.
It makes me very grateful that we hae com to this stage of his violin journey.
We've just changed teachers so maybe that brought on his new change in attitude.
An affirmation that all this hard work is paying off is how he's happy to continue with his lessons and he exclaimed to my girlfriend about how much he likes his violin when she asked if he would like to learn the piano instead. =)
Anyhow, the day of the exam came and I was all worried that he would be scared and freeze but that didn't even happen. He was cool as a cucumber. I was just his worried mother. Sitting out there waiting for him. And the pianist who accompanied him on his pieces said that he was calm and played well.
That makes me happy. Regardless of the results, it's always about the attitude. And I'm proud that he has the confidence to pull this off.
Job well done, Kiddo!
