One can never understand the bond that grandparents and their grandkids share.
I should know, because I love my paternal grandma to bits! Although she's now passed on, I've still got really fond memories of my Ah Ma.
Thus, one of the main reasons that pushed our move back to SG was us wanting the children to get to know their grandparents and external relatives.
And, one year on, I think we have met our objective.
My parents live about 5 minutes away from us. So, needless to say, they are our default babysitters. There are too many times when we decided to go catch a movie on a last minute basis and conveniently plonk them over at their grandparents.
The boys always have a blast over at my parents. To them, it's paradise. What is there not to like? It's treats galore AND Grandpa always brings them out to ride their bikes or go to the playgrounds.
The boys would proactively call my dad on a daily basis to check on where he is and what he is doing. (they ask him questions like that literally!) I love it that they have their own lil secrets that the three of them will share. (and not tell me!)
And for lil things like this I am thankful. Because I know that relationships like that can never be replaced by anything else!
