Werribee Zoo

Jakey the Adventurer sets off

So after forking out $XXX on the annual membership for Friends of the Zoo (FOTZ)... we decided that we betta make full use of the entitlements that we have in a year.

We have visited the Melbourne Zoo twice thus far and so we thought we would give the Werribee one a shot during the long weekend.

So off we went on our noble way, thinking that we would be enthralled by the wild safari setting that we were promised. Only to find out that, we had to be booked into the safari bus tour to experience the Safari side of things.

And the earliest time they had was 2.5 hours after we arrived.

Sheesh...

We decided to walk around the zoo with the kiddos. And I swear this is probably the smallest zoo I ever came across, for we were done in 40 mins! *arghz*

We didn't want to hang around cos it was so hot and humid that day. The kids were cranky and we didn't want to spend time pacifying them while waiting. In the end, we decided that it was a lil silly for us to wait around for the tour. We'll just have to come back earlier the next time round, I'd supposed.

Anyhooz, here are some pics of the day...

Anyone else, but you

I dunno if you've watched Juno.

I haven't but I'm dying to catch it.

And listening to this song makes me want to do it even more.

Heath Ledger 1979-2008

Pic from SMH

So while walking on the streets of Paddington, I read on my blackberry that Heath Ledger has died.

I thought it was another sick joke concocted by the twisted media in these crazy times.

But I thought wrong.

Maybe it's because he is Aussie that it strikes a cord. Or maybe because he has a young child too.

But whatever the reason is..

It is such a shame that the talented always die young. RIP.

Bon Jovi

Oh yeah we were pretty lucky to see them that close for some parts!

We got back from Sydney last evening after spending two days there.

Bon Jovi, can I say, is absolutely smashing. We had a blast at the concert.... I cannot remember getting this excited for a performance before. Oh, I can still feel my insides chanting the songs over and over again. :p

Us @ Acer Arena

Anywayz, it was fun while it lasted. Sydney, as usual, was a busy hub. So much to see, do, eat and shop. I definitely didn't get much shopping done so I'm planning to go back for another trip before moving back.

The day the stock market crashed

Barely 12 hours later, I am physically here at work. But my mind is definitely somewhere else. Plus I'm still tired from the lack of sleep. I think I need a longer break.

I must be getting old...

Not a Happy Jan

It is 2:11am.

I should be in bed right now but I've just finished watching the Roddick-Kohlschrieber match.

I'm on an adrenaline high from watching the standard of play.

But my droolworthy tennis player has lost.

Boo hoo!

I should really go to bed now!

Today

To summarise the day.

  • All Grown Up - I walked the kids to daycare, as usual. Popped them into the room with some brekkie and when I was about to go, I told Kayden that Mommy was going to work. He then gave me a reassuring "aww you have a good day Mom" kinda hug and a kiss and bid me adieu. No tears and tantrums. :)

  • All Scratched Up - When I met the husband for the walk back home, I realised that he's got a bruise on his eyelid, scratches on his neck, forehead and chest. I sussed him out about his day and he was quite nonchalant about anything unusual that happened during the day.

Then later on, he said that the boys and him had a UFC Fighting Style Competition in the arvo. For those of you not in the know, it is ring fighting with no rules and no holds-bar. And you win by submission. Except these dodos did it in the gym. Sighz. Boys will always be boys. No matter how old they are.

I was not very impressed but hey, he had his fun.

  • Eye Candy - Opps I meant Tennis. Was watching bits of the match between Marat Safin and Marcos Bagdadis. Very intensive and wonderful rallying.

I've always like Bagdadis... he reminds me of a big teddy bear. Safin is as always the more temperamental player.

I was very tempted to pick up my racket and practise some strokes. Maybe if we can find time this weekend, we'll have a game.

  • Swell Feet Swell - I miscalculated my steps today. I'd totally forgotten that I had to go buy a present for the boss's baby gal. And I wore my sky high Costume Nationals. *love* Needless to say, 2 hours later, a couple of blisters have appeared. Dang!

Anyway here are some pics of the two monsters lately.

His hair's too long so he borrowed my hairband for some vision.

The terror twosome and their informidable teddy bears!

UnReel

We went for a movie dualthon on Friday.

Had a couple of movies on my TO WATCH list so I managed to convince the husband to let me pick the films. (He was/is dying to watch "I am Legend")

So at 6.15 we left quick instructions for the nanny and dashed out, as always.

First up was "Enchanted". So good! Really funny and whimsical. I loved the fact that it's still soo Disney and yet to updated to today's living. And Prince Charming (James Marsden) as a himbo?! Oh my... Amy Adams was lovely and now that I'm older, I find Patrick Dampsey to be quite a cutie. O dear!

Then we took a short breather and went off for "PS I love you". OMG. If there ever was a film that closely depict the relationship that I have with Darien, this would be it! I'm not sure if he would ever do the letters thing shld something taboo happens. But watching it just hits so close to home that I teared a couple of times during the movie. It was definitely worth every penny of it. I loved every part of it. I love the witty banter. Hillary Swank's wardrobe. The songs.

The husband was so touched by the film that he kept telling me how he cannot live without me ever. :)

Go see it. You will see a piece of yourself in the film. I bet you will be touched by what you see! I think I'm going to buy the book now.

"I love you Holly. You were the chapters of my life but I will only be a chapter
in yours"

Precious is...

photo from Uncle Brandon.

... On the walk back home from daycare, you see your husband and your boys chasing each other playfully on the huge compound.

And you hear the giggles that come from their carefree selves as they pretend to be a bird.

I can only count myself fortunate to be in their lives.

What a wonderful way to start this year.
