Happy One Year Darlin'

This day last year... we were just pronounced man and wife. We vowed to love and honour each other through out life's ups and downs.

And boy! has it been a ride.

Truly I couldn't have found a better person to ride through thrills and trials that time brings.

There is no one better prepared for unexpected twists and stays calm thru calamities, like my dear husband.

He plays hard. Works even harder. Likes to enjoy good food and seek out new adventures. Game to try most things. Is pretty passionate about his lifestyle choices.

Most of all, he adores me. He really does. I think no one can take my craziness as well as him. He laughs at my crazy antics. Solves my "issues" for me. Pampers me with pretty much anything that I really want. Holds me really tight during those flooding moments. And he is a good fighter when it comes to arguments. Acts like a gentleman ...

And the better part is that he doesn't die at my shopping bills or frets over the small stuff in life.

Thru it all, he will always be there to cuddle me in bed and to make sure that I am well provided for.

Not forgetting that he's a great Daddy to Kayden. He enjoys his time spent with his lil boy. Getting involved in most of his activities. Puts him to bed and is always hands on with his lil boy's life.

One year on... a whole heap has changed. And more will come still. But like we promised... we will be there for each other through thick and thin.

I love ya baby. Happy Anniversary!

Playgroup

Baby K has started to expand his social circle.

In the last couple of weeks, he's developed a personality and he seems to like to charm the ladies, both young and old.

Just before we left for Sydney... he started to say "mama"

Not that it means my Mommy but more like "mama" stands for food, for cuddles and also for both his Dad and Mom.

I thought I heard it wrong the first time round becos Darien and I always fight for his attention to say "Daddy" first [for the husband] and I'll go "Mommy"

But he kept repeating in the days to come. Especially at mealtimes... it became prominent that it was gonna be his first word.

So anyway, I've organized for him to join a playground near our home. And brought him there for the first time. He was pleasantly surprised by all the bubbas there. They shared toys and exchanged smiles. The occasional hitting happened but that's wat babies do.

And after two hours, he got really tired and decided it was nap time. And that was then that everyone decided to go home.

But the lil boy is starting to make friends. He was reaching out to other babies and was being on his best behaviour. Charming both the mommies and their lil gals as well.

Till next week... I think he will pick up more stuff as we go along.

KoKo Rocks

We had dinner with our frenz' folks and some frenz on Tuesday night.

After snoozing for most part of the day, we initially thought of going for Mexican. Turns out we got invited to dinner at Koko by Ms D. Her folks are in town and we usually get a treat or two when they arrive.

So change of plans... went home to change. And we got to Crown at close to eight. Late as usual...

Anyway the food was pretty goood. They clearly didn't spare any expense with the decor. After years of hearing about that place... I never did made it there before. It was like the third jap meal in five days but it was still good enough for me to crave for more.

The chef was rather entertaining during his reign at the teppanyaki table. He knew the hierarchy and promptly served people according to their priority. I was impressed. He was rather PR and we had a ball of a time.

The other show for the night was the show of escorts in one of their private rooms. The gals just keep rolling in and out. You can just tell the hankypanky going on. So daysofourlives.

But food was pretty top notch. Took a lot of pics BUT as the two LCD screens are being upgraded... I can only upload the pictures when they are back. [one is back today but must wait for installation... I'm too lazy doing it myself.]

My lil man had fun. He was being passed around like a parcel and he took a liking to D's dad. While we had sushi... he had his apple puree.

So stay tuned!

Restful

This is us.

The first morning back from Sydney. We caught the red eye last night.

My lil one is snoozing with his Daddy right now. Trying to make up for lack of quality sleep that we had in the hotel serviced apartment.

But it was a good trip. I trawled through the markets and had a ball. Met up with a few frenz. Had Tacos at Kinks' apartment. The weather was also really beautiful.

We discovered a few great places to munch. Love love love the japanese food there. And while Da was busy with his convention, I had the chance to do my own exploration with ma' boy Kayden! He was fab company. So well behaved and friendly to most people.

And Sydneysiders are a friendly bunch! Food for thought!!!

But we had fun. Pics to come later...

Zonked Out

I am tired. Really.

Carrying an almost ninekilo baby in his lil carrier around is seriously no joke for some one who is barely five feet [and a bit] tall.

All for the sake of walking around to see stuff with your galfriend..

Crash!

I managed to catch two movies during the Apollo Bay trip

Crash was so awesomely written. The script was amazing and I dun need to say more about the casting. You know it's great when I swear that much! It really makes u understand why they won Best Picture.

The other show was "Old School." Sucha blokey movie. Betcha the guys were like pissin' themselves at this particular b**wjob scene. Gosh! Funnyarse but it was just another brainless show to pass time with.

Two down... a whole lot more to go!

Easter Weekend

We are BACK!

It was an awesome break we had at the Apollo Bay. Stranded at a cottage down at Skene's Creek with frenz. The scenery was beautiful. The weather was crap but we had loads of fun and heaps of food.

Dinner was really really good at this restaurant called SeaGrapes. The oysters have left us craving for so much more. We had a barbie the second night and had a ball eating again. You can be sure that we will be detoxing soon.

But you can't beat the company. The gamblers were out in force and during the days, we went out for coffee, walked thru stores and went to markets.

It was a great getaway. Especially when you have a baby that is great with road trips and frenz that make you laugh so hard. If only the weather was better... it would've been complete.

But we are glad to be home though! The comforts of home...

Walking is Good for the Soul

I might walk to the city later to grab a coupla stuff cos I am trying to avoid the madmadmad traffic that the usual Easter season brings.

After a busy morning of check-ups & grocery shopping for the weekend Barbie, we finally got home for a lil siesta. [Which my lil bubba is currently havin']

Will have to go get ready for our lil shoppin' trip.

On a side note, would you give up six months worth of shopping for a crazily expensive bag? That is the proposition that I am dealin' with at the moment. Damn! I want that bag!!!

Puppy Love

Sitting Pretty for the Camera.

Okie so Rustie's not really considered a pup anymore! The lil one turned three years old last month!

Baby K and Rus Rus

But he's found a new buddy in Kayden. The lil boy is still petting him everyday. Givin' him belly rubs several times a day. He's so cute! He will look for him and squeals when he sees Rustie. Beckoning him to come for a cuddle. And the doggie will respond with a "come stroke me" pose. Sighz.

Darien and I do believe in kids growing up with animals. It brings out another side of their personality and would teach them more about loving another person or pet. And it's endearing to see that side of Kayden.

Oh! And Baby K's two bottom teeth have finally popped thru! Hurray!

Healthy Choices?

Since my crazy husband said that he's gluten intolerant and has digestive inflammation. [I swear I am n o t making this up] we had an entire food makeover in the household.

He went without wheat and gluten for two weeks. Which meant no rice, no pasta, no flour, no noodles so on so forth. I was like how can an asian be gluten intolerant. It's like being an italian and not having pasta!

So it's been all meat and shitloads of vegs. Oh but he can have potatoes. Cos they dun have gluten in them... hmmm...

It was quite an interesting experience though. No rice at a chinese restaurant!

But food-wise, it was good. We had the best organic food at home. I have a newfoundliking for spinach! And I surprised myself with the taste of organic tasting food. They DO taste sweeter and the salad leaves are not bitter at all. A tad expensive but it's quite a general sacrifice for the better wellbeing of my family.

As for Darien, the diet seemed to work though. He lost the bloatedness and also some tummy weight. Thank God.

And I am still sceptical about certain things but am glad that it's always worth experimenting. You never know when you will find something that you like. Kinda like fashion.

Perfect Morning..

The hubbi came back this morning and snuck back into bed for a late morning start.

And a sleepheaded me actually thought that it was a dream when he said he would be back later on.

Morning snuggles are great.

An Absolute best for an almost midweek day.

Bad Bad Service

Nothing pisses the two of us more than incompetant people. Especially when it comes to being in the service industry.

We were meant to get a highchair from TRUs for Kayden. As he's just turned six months and is getting rather restless in his rocker while feeding. So while we were at Target yesterday, I popped him into the FP Aquarium HighChair which he totally loved!

So after researchin' online and realising that there is an awesome discount on it, I called up first thing this morning to get them to hold one for me.

HighPoint didn't have it so they referred me to Chadstone. I called. This guy said he's got three and would hold one for me till the end of the day. Perfect.

Then while the husband and I were doing our groceries, I got a call saying that unfortunately the item got sold while I was getting it held. And that really pissed Da off. To him, they really should've checked before promising us that we would get it.

The gal was then meant to check a coupla other stores before calling me back. 30 mins later... still no call so a rather pissedoff husband called them back in a diplomatic manner, but of course.

He was put on hold for ten minutes. So he hung up and call again. The line was busy so he redialed till he could get thru. The second time he got thru, he got put on hold again. For another 8 minutes.

With his mobile bill ticking and blood boiling... it has not come to a good conclusion. These people didn't even pick up the phone at all to give him a decent reply.

He was furious at the end of it... needless to say. Called up directory services and they got him the number for the store at Knox. [a good hour's drive away] and they did have one. So we headed down that way later in the arvo.

And thank God they had put one aside.

What he cannot understand is how something that can be so easily solved... took these people eons to get a solution. Best of all, they tried avoiding the issue by putting him on hold. He was not impressed at all with their service attitude and you can sure bet that a complaint letter is gonna be on its way to their head office. It sure left a bad taste in his mouth about this experience.

Had it not been for the huge discount... You can sure bet that he would've spun around and gone to another store to get the highchair for Kayden.

Shopper Dynamics

I never get to buy my stuff when I go to the stores with Darien.

Chances are... he would end up with fabulous buys and I would end up with nothing.

This turns out to be true today.

We were meant to go to Zomp to see which pair of boots I should get. On the way there, we got hijacked by the AG clearance store, which offered rather nice things at a really nice price.

So in we went and lo and behold! We were in there for an hour. He got himself a new coat and a coupla new tops. Very nice...

And we finally managed to hop over to see my shoes but the store looked like a tornado just ran thru it. So we didn't manage to buy them today.

Never mind... I guess we have to head down again tomorrow. Aiyah!

The Big ONE

Every couple has its "ones"

First date. First Kiss. First month together. First year anniversary. First time. First time you live together. One Proposal. First Wedding Anniversary. Firstborn.

The list goes on...

So this morning we were having brekkie at a cafe. And I casually brought up the first wedding anniversary as a convo topic.

Just to source out what he has planned. Or not.

Turns out he has it all set! Hmpf. To think that I've underestimated him.

Don't know what he has in mind but itz a surprise. Can't wait!

Spoilt Bubba

I cannot tell you the number of swoons, sudden gulps of air and baby talk that Kayden gets everytime we go out.

I tend to bring him along to the stores during weekdays, when the stores are quieter and the traffic is not so crazy.

So we went to the S&T store & Zomp today in the city and I carried him in my arms. While just browsing the selection, the salesgals started to come by... one by one.

They cuddled him. Touched his chubby cheeks. One helped me to carry him while I tried some clothes on.

And the cheeky one just laps up the attention. He really likes girls. Pretty ones, especially.

I guess that is why he doesn't mind the shopping part.

Boredom

b o r e d. b o r e d. b o r e d.
Terribly.

A dress. A singlet. A pair of boots. A skirt. A scarf. A long sleeve top. Another singlet.

Yet I am still bored.

I need to do something. Like maybe save the world.

Early Ride

Got up early this morn so I thought I'll give the husband a ride into work.

The radio was off. We had a short conversation in the car. Juz general stuff. It was sweet.

I like talking to him. Enjoy his company even more. He still makes the heart tickle.

He got off and kissed me goodbye.

I switched the radio on. It was a good five minute drive. Great for midweek.

Six months and Counting

My lil one is six months old today.

Who would've thought that so much would've change in the span of six months. What was originally a rather minimalistic decorated apartment for two working adults have turned into a warzone filled with kiddies toys.

I remember getting my foxtel installed the week I was due to give birth and the cable guy went, "So it's your first one huh."

I was like, "How'd u know?"

He said, "Easy... No toys."

How true... How true.

Anyhow we've come a long way. He's so much a lil man with his own set of thinking. Not one who's afraid to let his feelings be shown. He lurves talking. Has a healthy set of baby vocabulary. Likes to eat... A LOT. Really chirpy by nature.

A stubborn lil person as well. He will yell till he gets his way. So we always go, "Dun yell, Kay." Sometimes to no avail.

But he loves us. Nothing beats waking up in the morning and seeing his big smile so plastered on his lil face. Or how he lies on his Daddy's chest and looks up at his face and beams. Or he would just sit on his Dad's lap to watch TV.

And he's finally perfected sitting on his own. Slowly but surely we are getting there. So I guess it's just a whole heap of learning for now.

We are blessed with our lil bubba. I guess nothing prepared us for this journey. No amount of reading tells us what to expect. Nor did the enormous amount of love that just flows out when you cuddle him. It's truly is one different experience...

He's just gorgeous and best of all, he's our son. Can't ask for anything more.

My Cheeky Boy

My son was about to snooze off in his cot when he turned to the other direction and started fiddling with his FP aquarium.

What are we to do with him?

Drowsy Updates

Here's what's been going on for the last few days.
  • Virus Attack - I am so drowsy as I type this. Caught the flu from Darien last night and I'm feeling oh so miserable right now. Not forgetting I've got an active bubba to look after today.

  • Rolling Around - Baby K has started being mobile. Oh gosh. Left him on his playmat near the TV console last Friday. Five minutes later, it was baby next to the coffee table. A good metre away from where he originally was.

  • All I want for Christmas - Also he's F I N A L L Y teething but he's been so good though. No hissy fits and all. Just his dummy. [which he has a newfoundliking for now] So we are expecting two little bottom teeth to pop out soon but they've been teasing him so far.

  • Online - We were offline for most of the weekend. Thought the phone line was faulty but it was my modem that died the dishonorable death. Tried it at Dawn's place and that stoopid modem was the culprit. So we bought a reallly nice looking Netgear one yesterday. We are BACK Online. Yeaps!

  • Grand Prix - One massive fit and a slight argument. We did end up home for the Australian Grand Prix. The race was amazing. Too many safety cars.

So many accidents and my heart broke when Schumacher's car was all smashed up. And Webber was terribly unlucky. Howabout Jensen Button... 100 metres from the checkered flag. He did put up a good fight though. It was fantastic. I'm glad we caught it, despite my desires to be elsewhere.

  • Daylight Savings - We've fallen back an hour so our clocks are now adjusted back. Still confusing but at least the sun is rising at the time that it should.
